Peter Lik - Nature Photographer Research

Peter Lik was born in 1959 in Melbourne, Australia to Czech immigrant parents.  He is a self taught landscape photographer.

In 1984, he began traveling in Alaska where he began to experiment with panoramic cameras.  For his 8th birthday, he was given Brownie camera and within minutes he was taking the drops of dew on a spiders web.  He started his own business in America in his early 20's.  Peter also takes images of cityscapes.  His photography features dramatic lighting, angles and settings as well as bright intense colours.  He also has a number of published books and numerous awards.

Heather Angel - Nature Photographer Research

I arrived back from my holidays to my recent copy of Digital Camera Magazine, May 2011 edition and after flicking through it, I stumbled across Heather Angel.

Heather is a very talented lady who has been an award-winning photographer for 3 decades.  She is one of Britains top Wildlife Photographers.  After studying zoology at Bristol University, she got into photography during an underwater expedition to Norway and eventually turned freelance.

As well as authoring over 60 books, Heather was the second woman to be president of the Royal Photography Society.

She had never used any kind of camera until she was given an Exakta SLR for her 21st birthday.  Heather says that one of the success rates of becoming a nature photographer is 'a love and empathy with the natural world'.  You need to know where to go, when to go, the time of day and what you are setting out to take images of.  Heather was lucky enough to start off at a time when there were very few wildlife photographers around. Yet, the demand for colour images began to surge.  To boost her income, she also ran workshops.

Heathers style is all about trying to capture a moment of time in a still image to convey a biological point.  With macro photography, lighting is key.

Amalia Elena Veralli - Nature Photographer Research

Amalia was born in Ne York and developed and ran a successful pottery business in Warren, VT.  When she retired, she pursued her passion for photography.  Originally working in black and white, Amalia began her exploration in photography while on a trip to Europe in the late 1960's.  During the last few years, she moved to colour film and digital photography.

Amlia specialises in macro photography.  Her floral prints have been compared to the paintings of Georgia O'Keefe.  She is developing a growing fine art photography market with corporates and private collectors.  She also provides framed fine art photography to enhance the interior design of her corporate and private clients' interiors.

Art Wolfe - Nature Photographer Research

Art Wolfe is a professional photographer that I really admire.  Art was born on 13th September 1951 in Seattle, Washington.  He was the son of commercial artists. He graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors degree in fine arts and art education.

Within 4 years of graduation, he had undertaken assignments for National Geographic magazine and produced his 1st photo book documenting Northwest Indian Baskets.  He has since gone on to produce more than 65 books and instructional videos of photographic techniques.

Over the course of his 30 year career, At has worked on every continent and in 100's of locations.
